Course Description

This class combines Ground fighting skills from Brazilian Jiu Jistu, Mixed Martial
Arts and weapon retention skills in a class to help officers survive if they go to the
ground with a subject.

The class is taught by the owner of Infusion MMA who has been instructing and
training in mixed martial arts for many years, and a Special Agent for the
Department of Justice who is on a Statewide Tactical Team and Defense and
Arrest Tactics instructor. Both have trained together in ground fighting for 4 years,
and have put together this program combining their specialties.

This class will focus on ground techniques to defend against strikes, submissions,
weapon retention and placing the officer in a position of advantage. The first part
of the class will focus on techniques, and the second part will focus on developing
muscle memory through drills and static scenarios.

TOPICS COVERED

  • Weapon Retention from the ground

  • Ground Defense against strikes and submissions

  • Techniques from open guard, closed guard, and full mount

  • Submission techniques

  • Drills utilizing skills learned

  • Take home information to practice techniques and drills

Instructors philosophy:

No single technique is perfect, 100% of the time. That’s why we train multiple
techniques to survive a physical attack. Every technique we teach is practiced and
drilled many times over so it becomes 'muscle memory' and you don’t have to
think about it as much. Every fighter has a plan, until they get hit. Then it depends
upon how much you’ve trained, and how well you can think under stress while
giving it everything you’ve got.
